Many of my friends have posted this already, both in Iowa and out, but I definitely think it worth posting yet again.

You'd be surprised!

I grew up in the Cedar Rapids/Marion from 3rd grade through high school. We actually had our very own Gay & Lesbian Resource Center and every year had a decent little Pride Fest. All the big state college areas, of course, have a modest GLBT population, though Iowa City is known particularly so for its GLBT community even outside the U of I. Heck, we even have The Quire.

So be nice to Iowa, we're actually a good little midwestern queer state :-D

I would actually like to go to Iowa, they have the number one creative writing program in the nation!

Just when you hear Iowa you think anything but fabulous
