Since BSG is all done now...
There's plenty swimming around in my head and I'm sure it won't all come out here. Still...
By and large, pleased with the ending. I was expecting the big bangs and explosions and combat-y stuff to last more than just the first hour, but I'm a-ok that it didn't. And, really, it makes sense -- it's amazing Galactica survived that initial barrage I think.
I think it should have ended with the pan-out after Bill Adama's last bit. The flash forward was decidedly unnecessary, and we already got the whole 'will we break the cycle?' bit. In addition, the Hera-as-mitochondrial-eve is interesting, but I think the implication there would be NOBODY ELSE on the planet had descendants that reproduced into present day. I find that silly. I also think I'm displeased the series ended with Baltar.
That said, Adama and Roslin's ending was amazing. There was definitely crying involved.
Baltar getting to be a farmer again -- very touching moment, thumbs up, perhaps a few more tears.
Lee Adama's ending was very appropriate, getting to finally be free as himself. Kara's I'm not so sure about. It was ok, but that's a loose end with a tenuous grasp on 'reality' at best. It was ok, though.
Tyrol going apeshit on Tory was awesome. I totally didn't see that coming. Neither did Jason.
The dead raptor pilot (Racetrack?) who just happened to hit the 'launch nukes' button -- lame -- though I liked what came of it.
Chasing Hera through Galactica interspersed with opera house footage = pretty cool.
Given how little regard Cavil had for humanity I don't see why he would give a crap about Baltar's speech. I figure he would only take heed because of the realization he could never get Hera off Galactica alive otherwise. The speech was nice, but I don't see it ever swaying Cavil. That really came from Tigh, and I was still waiting for the backstab from Cavil that never really came.
Boomer repaying her debt to Adama -- that was awesome. Athena then taking her out -- totally appropriate.
That is all for now.
